Nearly 400 participants from close to 40 Chinese and international companies competed at the 2025 "Sunland Cup" Excellence Regatta held at Sunland Lake Water Park on September 19.
The annual regatta, which has been held multiple times, has cumulatively attracted over 2,000 participants and nearly 160 teams, building extensive social influence over the years. This year’s edition featured two main events—the Mixed Eight and Mixed Four races—with corporate teams battling fiercely across the expansive lake.
Unlike traditional straight-row river courses, Sunland Lake’s irregular curved shoreline, combined with its wide surface and frequently windy conditions, increased the challenge for rowers while enhancing the spectacle for spectators.
Leveraging the area’s vast green spaces and water resources, Sunland Commercial Operation Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Waigaoqiao Group and the regional operator of Sunland, has partnered with leading outdoor sports organizers such as Decathlon and Xinting Sports to consistently host high-profile events including dragon boat and rowing competitions. These efforts aim to build a distinctive sports ecosystem in the zone.
This year’s regatta further integrated diversified consumption experiences, creating a sustainable “compete–engage–consume” loop. A highlight was the well-curated lakeside market, where Shake Shack served classic American burgers, Rockit Apple from New Zealand offered healthy snacks, and Sunland’s Global Selection Market showcased over 100 types of international specialty products.
