Stanford GSB delegation visits Waigaoqiao Global Hub

A 30-member delegation from Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) recently visited the Waigaoqiao Global Hub for an in-depth exchange and field study focused on global trade.

The event combined site visits and roundtable discussions to showcase China’s practical achievements in free trade zone innovation and trade facilitation.

The delegation toured the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone National (Regional) Pavilion and the International Wine Exhibition and Trading Center, gaining detailed insights into import procedures for goods from multiple countries, innovative regulatory models, and the one-stop service mechanism that “turns exhibits into commodities.”

At the wine center, nearly 7,000 types of alcoholic beverages from 30 countries and regions were on display, offering a clear demonstration of Waigaoqiao’s strength as an international trade hub with extensive resources and integration capabilities.

During the roundtable session, Waigaoqiao Group provided a comprehensive introduction to the area’s development, functional positioning, and innovation practices. Lively discussions took place between the delegation and hosts on topics including “the construction of global supply chain hubs,” “integration of trade and industry,” and “financial empowerment of trade.” The dialogue enabled deep exploration of the roles and challenges faced by major economies in global trade.

The visit by Stanford GSB reflects strong recognition of Waigaoqiao’s pioneering experience in global trade and highlights close attention to China’s ongoing efforts to deepen institutional openness.
