The 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival will open on October 17. PMG Shanghai Pudong Media Group, a subsidiary of the Waigaoqiao Group, is set to present six highly anticipated performances, among which the "Danièle Gatti, Bruce Liu, and Staatskapelle Dresden Concert" has already gone on sale.
On the stage of this year's arts festival, the renowned conductor Danièle Gatti, celebrated for his passionate and vigorous style, will lead the 477-year-old Staatskapelle Dresden in two distinct yet deeply traditional programs.
The concert on November 4 promises a musical feast bridging East and West, past and present. The program includes both a rare performance of Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu’s "Requiem for String Orchestra" and Gustav Mahler’s monumental "Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp Minor."
On November 5, following the opening with Beethoven’s "Coriolan Ouverture, Op.62," the orchestra will join forces with Bruce Liu, the winner of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition, to interpret Mozart’s moving "Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major K.488." The performance will conclude with Richard Strauss’s "Ein Heldenleben Op. 40" (A Hero’s Life), celebrating the orchestra’s century-long musical connection with the composer.
