Pudong New Area Development and Reform Commission and Shanghai Waigaoqiao Asset Management Co Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding to authorize the development and management of the Sanchagang wedge-shaped green space, marking the project’s transition into a substantive construction phase.
Covering around 662 hectares in the strategic core of the “Gateway of Shanghai”project, the development plans a total floor area of around 3.13 million square meters, including residential, commercial, cultural, medical and R&D facilities.
Positioned as a “Gateway to Greenery” and a hub for cultural convergence, the project centers on three functional zones: art exhibitions, innovative humanities and ecological leisure. It aims to become a demonstration site for green development, a cultural and artistic park, and a model for Shanghai’s park city vision, offering residents a walkable, interactive urban landmark.
The developer emphasizes integrated planning, balanced development, and prioritizing public welfare, including resettlement housing and waterfront green spaces. Following preliminary land surveys and planning, construction of the first phase has begun, signaling a rapid transformation from former riverside land into a green, sustainable and internationally oriented urban showcase.
