The 19th Shanghai International Wine Challenge (SIWC) concluded with its awards ceremony, recognizing exceptional wines after a rigorous four-day blind tasting by 13 internationally acclaimed judges.
The competition honored 68 Platinum Award winners, 160 Gold Award recipients, 168 Silver Award wines, and 8 "Best Trophy" standouts.
These distinguished wines will soon grace prestigious platforms including the China International Import Expo, while reaching consumers through JD.com's e-commerce platform, offline tasting venues, and the Waigaoqiao International Liquor Exhibition and Trade Center, reflecting the event's commitment to market accessibility.
Co-organized by the operational arm of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Group, this year's competition attracted premium wines from nearly 20 countries.
Marking a significant international collaboration, SIWC partnered with Georgia's National Wine Agency, a "Belt and Road" initiative partner country, to showcase nearly 200 Georgian wines carrying eight millennia of winemaking heritage during a dedicated "Country Focus Day," highlighting their unique terroir and cultural legacy.
Innovating beyond traditional judging formats, SIWC introduced a "Public Jury" track targeting affordable wines under 100 yuan (US$13.95). A panel comprising F&B professionals, media experts, and importers conducted live evaluations with immediate results announcements, ensuring transparency while stimulating mass-market consumption.
More than a professional competition, SIWC has evolved into a comprehensive platform integrating exhibition, sales, and evaluation, effectively bridging global wine industry resources with China's burgeoning consumer market.
