Waigaoqiao FTZ accelerates shift toward next-gen automotive smart manufacturing

As a leading enterprise in the automobile and auto parts industry in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, Shanghai Inteva Automotive Door Systems Co Ltd, making its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, recently revealed that its self-developed high-end intelligent electronic side door locks and power-operated tailgate locks have been adopted as standard configurations in all Avatr models, demonstrating its continued dedication to the smart auto components sector.

Today, Inteva's Waigaoqiao factory has grown into the company's largest single-site door lock manufacturing base globally and maintains a leading position in domestic market share.

In 2024, Inteva, which has been operating in the Waigaoqiao FTZ for 25 years, signed a lease expansion agreement for a 10,000-square-meter warehousing and logistics facility to boost production capacity for new products and optimize storage resources.

Leveraging its superior location, well-developed infrastructure, and high-standard industrial support services, Waigaoqiao has successfully attracted numerous renowned domestic and international automakers and parts suppliers, forming a complete industrial chain ecosystem covering R&D, manufacturing, testing, certification, and after-sales services.

Another exhibitor at this year's auto show, Aptiv PLC, has established its China Technology Center and Asia-Pacific R&D headquarters in Waigaoqiao, focusing on next-generation automotive platforms, smart connectivity, infotainment, and user experience systems.

Toyota Boshoku, a global leader in automotive seating and interior systems, continues to capitalize on its regional headquarters advantages in Waigaoqiao, developing multiple core technologies centered on comfort and sustainability. At the auto show, Toyota Boshoku officially unveiled its world-premiere 2030 mobility space intelligent cockpit concept.
