ACWA Power launches first overseas innovation center in Waigaoqiao

ACWA Power, the world's largest private desalination company, a leader in energy transition, and a pioneer in green hydrogen, recently announced the official opening of its first overseas innovation center in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, Pudong New Area.

The ACWA Power Global Innovation Center is equipped with advanced experimental facilities and will focus on five key areas: photovoltaics, wind power, energy storage, green hydrogen, and desalination. The first phase of investment amounts to 20 million yuan (US$2.76 million), and the center currently houses an R&D center and a green energy laboratory.

In the future, the ACWA Power Global Innovation Center aims to create a vibrant ecosystem by bringing together government agencies, state-owned enterprises, startups, equipment manufacturers, universities, research institutions, and certification bodies. This collaboration will drive innovation development across the entire project lifecycle, from research and development to application.

At the launch ceremony, ACWA Power signed memorandums of understanding with GRL, the Middle East's authoritative renewable energy photovoltaic laboratory, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. These collaborations will provide talent and technical support to its global innovation center, empowering the incubation of innovative projects and addressing common industry challenges.
