HK biotech delegation visits Waigaoqiao to strengthen ties

A delegation from the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization, led by Chairman Albert Cheung-Hoi Yu, visited Waigaoqiao for an exchange recently. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on collaboration in the biopharmaceutical sector between Waigaoqiao and Hong Kong.

Chen Bin, deputy general manager of Waigaoqiao Group, welcomed the delegation. He highlighted Waigaoqiao's strong foundation in the biopharmaceutical industry, which complements Hong Kong's R&D capabilities, offering great potential for collaboration.

He expressed hope for strengthening dialogue and cooperation between industries and investors from both regions through initiatives like setting up liaison points and co-hosting industry events, aiming to jointly promote the high-quality development of national strategic emerging industries.

Yu outlined the development layout and future plans of Hong Kong's biotechnology industry, affirming the broad prospects for cooperation. He invited Waigaoqiao biopharmaceutical companies to participate in the BIOHK, one of Asia's largest international biotech fairs.

In October 2024, Waigaoqiao Group's Biopharmaceutical Company and the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization signed a memorandum of cooperation to establish a platform for collaboration and exchange in the biopharmaceutical industry between Waigaoqiao and Hong Kong.
