The Waigaoqiao Think Tank Forum: International Cruise Design Development and Innovation was held at the Offshore Trade and Industry Service Center in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone recently. During the event, the Waigaoqiao International Cruise Design Innovation Workstation was officially inaugurated.

The workstation aims to accelerate cruise design development, promote industry design technology innovation, and foster cruise design talent. It seeks to enhance international exchange and cooperation between China and Italy in cruise design, and to advance the construction of a cruise design innovation hub in Shanghai.

Luo Zhiwei, director of the Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design, said that the workstation will provide comprehensive services focused on cruise product and service innovation design, professional talent training and international exchange in cruise design.

The event also invited outstanding experts and leaders from various fields such as cruise design, manufacturing, and operations to engage in comprehensive and in-depth discussions and exchanges on key themes like "industry innovation," "talent cultivation," and "international cooperation."

With the operation of the first domestically-built large cruise ship, China has entered a new era of full industrial chain development in the cruise industry. Innovation and development in cruise design are not only about technological breakthroughs but also about cultural heritage and innovation.

Chen Jianlin, deputy director of the Consumer Goods and Fashion Industry Development Division of the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Informatization, said in his speech that the forum will inject new vitality and momentum into the development of the cruise industry. The commission will continue to enhance policy support, optimize the industry development environment, and further promote the rapid development of the cruise industry in Shanghai.
