At the 2024 Pudong Shipping Week Eco Conference on Monday, the green smart demonstration route from Suzhou Port to Waigaoqiao Port was officially launched.
Located in the core area of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the route spans nearly 200 kilometers. In the future, electric ships carrying 120 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) standard containers will shuttle along this route.
The launch of this route is a significant move in implementing the national strategy for high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and adapting to the trends of transformation in shipping. It reflects the close cooperation between Shanghai and Jiangsu in the shipping sector and their active exploration of green smart shipping. It is expected that each round trip of a single ship will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 6.37 tons.
During this shipping week, a themed conference and 56 activities independently organized by shipping industry market entities will be held, focusing on new changes and business models in the shipping industry and building consensus within the industry.
According to the Pudong New Area Shipping Office, in addition to themes from the first shipping week like high-end shipping services and green smart shipping, the second shipping week will introduce new themes such as Greece National Day, Zhoushan Port Day, eastern hub, low-altitude economy, logistics supply chain, blockchain applications, shipping large models, and logistics robots. These activities aim to promote the integrated development of shipping with trade, finance, and technology.
