New silk road e-commerce salon debuts at Global Hub Waigaoqiao

The "New Silk Road E-commerce, Empowering New Energies" salon, part of a series of initiatives by Pudong New Area to support companies in expanding internationally, recently kicked off at Global Hub Waigaoqiao.

"Silk Road E-commerce" is a key initiative by China to deepen collaboration under the Belt and Road framework. This initiative is opening up new avenues for international trade, offering fresh opportunities for cross-border e-commerce and global trade enterprises.

In the second quarter of this year, Pudong launched the "Silk Road E-commerce" themed season, hosting over 60 events, including training sessions, special activities, and country-focused programs.

These events have tackled the challenges of cross-border e-commerce, established a specialized training system, and strengthened companies' ties with international markets.

This "Go Global" series is structured into three main segments, with more than 40 events planned, ranging from business tours and overseas exhibitions to investment forums and training programs.

The focus is on tapping into emerging markets, optimizing cross-border e-commerce services, and enhancing the ease of cross-border trade, creating a more efficient and accessible platform for international collaboration.

At the salon, industry experts and company leaders shared their insights:

  • Shanghai EDI Center introduced innovative models for cross-border exports via international express services.
  • Shanghai Yueguang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. highlighted the vast potential in the Russian-speaking cross-border e-commerce market.
  • Meione (Shanghai) Network Technology Co., Ltd. discussed how innovative e-commerce models are driving the global exchange of high-quality goods and culture.
  • The Hungary Center showcased Hungary’s unique advantages as an investment destination.
  • The Pakistan Center emphasized the role of cross-border e-commerce in fostering deep cultural exchanges and creating win-win business opportunities.

During the event, the Silk Road E-commerce Overseas Warehouse Service Alliance and the Silk Road E-commerce Financial Comprehensive Service Station signed agreements with key partners to help companies navigate cross-border expansion with greater efficiency, security, and convenience. These partnerships also explored new ways to integrate financial services into cross-border e-commerce.

In a further boost to international trade, Shanghai Waigaoqiao International Trading Operation Center Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Waigaoqiao Group, signed a letter of intent with Shanghai Yintuoluo E-commerce Co., Ltd. to establish country-specific centers within the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

This collaboration aims to strengthen bilateral trade between China and Uzbekistan, meet the growing demand for Uzbek products in the Chinese market, and build a robust two-way trade platform. Plans are also underway to establish an "Uzbekistan Center" within the Free Trade Zone in Shanghai.
