The Shanghai Waigaoqiao International Trading Operation Center, a subsidiary of the Waigaoqiao Group, signed an agreement on rural revitalization cooperation with Lixin Village in Zhuqiao Town and held the "rice and leech intergrowth" project seedling deployment ceremony.
In 2023, the operation center and Lixin Village jointly implemented the "rice and leech intergrowth" industrial project. Both parties pooled resources such as funds, talent and technology to support Lixin Village in expanding the "rice+" ecological industry chain, creating an industry model based on high-standard paddy rice cultivation and a symbiotic cycle of rice and leech farming.
Currently, the 14-mu experimental base has cultivated and deployed over 130,000 leech seedlings, with an expected harvest of over 500 kilograms of mature leeches in December.
The operation center strongly supports Lizhen Village in conducting trials of new rice varieties and uses its platform to help the village increase sales of finished rice by 13,500 kilograms.
Additionally, the operation center supports the transformation of Lizhen Village's liquor store and leverages the distinctive advantages of its subsidiaries under the Global Hub, including the Waigaoqiao International Alcohol Exhibition and Trading Center and Waigaoqiao Imports Direct Sales Center.
These entities are responsible for displaying and supplying the liquor and festive supplies needed for the daily operations of the liquor store. The project is expected to invest 350,000 yuan (US$48,275.86) and is planned to be completed by the end of September.
