Shanghai Pharma, CooperVision sign strategic agreement to tackle myopia

Shanghai Pharmaceutical Co Ltd and CooperVision signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Wednesday, injecting new energy into the development of the health industry in the Waigaoqiao Bonded Area.

In December 2022, the nearly 400-square-meter CooperVision special medical warehouse was completed in Waigaoqiao. It will be operated by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Pharmaceutical Business and Distribution Center.

As an import distribution center for the highly customized corneal reshaping lenses (OK lens), the special warehouse can provide one-stop services such as receiving domestic customer orders, international transportation, bonded warehousing, and direct delivery to consumers.

At the signing ceremony, Dr Juan Carlos Aragon, global president of CooperVision Specialty EyeCare, said that the strategic cooperation between CooperVision and Shanghai Pharmaceutical will bring innovative changes to myopia management in China.

Shanghai Pharmaceutical Vice General Manager Ren Gang said that the two parties will further deepen their cooperation in the international supply chain and domestic multi-channel distribution, focusing on the multiple product lines that CooperVision is about to launch into the Chinese market and fully utilizing Shanghai Pharma's national distribution network advantages to benefit more domestic patients.

In recent years, the Waigaoqiao Bonded Area has focused on promoting the high-quality development of the biopharmaceutical industry and has gathered 884 biopharmaceutical companies from research and development, testing, production to warehousing, trade, circulation services, medical services and clinical trials, with 40.4 percent of the country's imported medical devices coming from the bonded area.
