China’s first home-developed cruise ship structure completed

China’s first home-developed cruise ship floated in Waigaoqiao, a milestone in completing the whole shipbuilding process.

The cruise ship is built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd, and is due to be delivered to CSSC Carnival Cruise Shipping by the September of 2023.

The floating of the cruise ship means the structure of the ship has been constructed, and it now enters the next phase of interior work.

Building cruise ship is a challenging work. The first cruise ship of China has 136 systems, 20,000 equipment, 25 million parts, 4,200-kilometer cables, 350-kilimeter tubes, and 450-kilometer air ducts, which uses products from more than 500 multinationals.

Promoting cruise ship building is significant to China in the construction of its ocean power, manufacturing power and scientific power.

Up to now, 55 percent of the first cruise ship has been finished.
