The extension project of the No. 2 shipyard of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co Ltd was finished and delivered yesterday, laying a solid foundation for the manufacturing of domestic large cruise ships.
The new shipyard, renovated over 20 months, covers an area equivalent to seven football fields. It will meet the need for the construction of one and a half large cruise ship per year.
It will become the birthplace of the country’s first domestically made large cruise ship, which will start construction at the end of this year.
