Premier Li Keqiang pledged to cut the red tape by half this year. He was speaking at a press conference on Wednesday at the close of the annual meetings of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Li said that since 2013 the central government had cut the number of items subject to administrative reviews and approvals by a third and fulfilled its target in advance. More cuts will be made this year.
The premier said the streamlining of administrative procedures has benefitted entrepreneurs. About 30,000 businesses are registered in China every day. The government will continue to cut its power list and provide better service to the people.
