The Global Medical Devices Training, Exhibition, Trading and Innovation Center was inaugurated at the Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone on May 25.
As one of the first key projects to settle in the zone, the A3 International Medical Technology Innovation and Exchange Center, led by Boston Scientific in partnership with Danaher and Siemens Healthineers, was simultaneously launched.
The event marks a critical step for the Eastern Hub in pooling global medical innovation resources and driving international collaborative innovation.
The Medical Devices Innovation Center will focus on three core functions: global medical device training, advanced product technology exhibition and trading, and cross-border R&D and transformation services, while also providing comprehensive supporting services.
The newly launched A3 project, a benchmark model led by a foreign medical device giant, concentrates on three major disease areas – cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, oncology, and neuromodulation – aiming to deliver integrated, full-course diagnosis and treatment solutions covering screening, precision diagnosis, treatment planning, minimally invasive intervention, and follow-up management.
Biomedicine is one of Shanghai’s three priority leading industries. The functional advantages of the Eastern Hub will help multinational corporations in biomedicine and related fields expand new businesses, scenarios and services, and participate in building an open innovation ecosystem.
By the end of 2025, the bonded area had gathered 204 medical device-related enterprises, with 61 of the world’s top 100 medical device companies having established a presence there. The zone’s annual import value of medical instruments and devices accounts for nearly half of China’s total.
