Sunland Commercial District hosts immersive Spring Festival celebration through March 3

The Waigaoqiao commercial district in the Pudong New Area has curated a series of themed activities blending traditional new year customs with modern consumption, cultural experiences, and leisure entertainment.

As the core commercial hub of Waigaoqiao, Sunland Mall is hosting an immersive new year celebration from now through March 3, spanning the entire Spring Festival and Lantern Festival period.

During the event, the mall is adorned with red lanterns, Chinese knots, and Year of the Horse-themed decorations, creating a rich festive atmosphere. With any purchase, consumers can redeem opportunities to try crafts including bamboo weaving, paper cutting, sugar painting, sugar figure making, and dragon-phoenix character art.

Traditional Chinese performances are staged regularly at Sunland Mall, showcasing the elegance of Eastern aesthetics.

At Sunland Garden City, another key shopping destination in Waigaoqiao, folk art stalls line the venue. Calico "horse puppets" have proven particularly popular among young consumers.

The newly opened Himaxx Pudong flagship store, spanning over 20,000 square meters, offers a fresh shopping experience with its warehouse-style format featuring major brands at low prices. The store fills a gap in Pudong's northern area for large-scale outlet retail.

Pudong Peony Garden has launched a "New Year Horse Hunt" activity, inviting visitors to find Year of the Horse-themed photo spots throughout the garden. Participants who snap photos can receive limited-edition new year postcards from the garden.

According to Ling Yun, senior manager of the Commercial Division at Shanghai Sunland Waigaoqiao Commercial Operation Center Co, Ltd, the Sunland commercial district welcomed approximately 110,000 visitors in the first three days of the Spring Festival holiday, generating over 5 million yuan (US$732,064) in revenue. The Sunland New Year Festival activities will continue through the Lantern Festival.
