The trial operation of a direct outbound cargo transport model was launched recently at the Shanghai Pudong Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
Two trucks loaded with outbound cargo traveled from the bonded zone through the direct access into the Pudong International Airport area, marking a significant achievement in the integration efforts of the bonded zone and the port at Pudong Airport.
This direct outbound cargo transport model is of great significance. On one hand, outbound goods within the zone can reach the port area directly through the checkpoint, bypassing the need to detour via external roads or warehouses.
On the other hand, the delivery and documentation processes for outbound cargo, which previously had to be completed at the cargo terminal, can now be handled within the Pudong Airport Bonded Zone. Goods can be delivered to the China Eastern Airlines cargo terminal within the zone, which then transports them directly to the port area.
The direct outbound cargo model will significantly enhance operational efficiency for enterprises within the zone. For example, under the previous model, goods had to be delivered to an external export warehouse eight to 10 hours before flight departure. The new model saves on secondary transport and handling time, allowing companies to reduce their overseas order response time by at least two hours and offering more flexibility in flight selection.
