Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng visited the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone and Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical Co Ltd yesterday and pointed out that the zone is the epitome of China’s FTZ exploration practice. He said that the bonded area should thoroughly implement the important speech of President Xi Jinping to promote high-level institutional openness.
In the afternoon, Gong and his delegation visited the FTZ exhibition hall of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone to better understand the innovation made by Waigaoqiao since 1990. Gong pointed out the area should seize the opportunity of digital transformation, enhance innovation in supervision and explore open policies and systems with strong international market competitiveness.
City leaders also visited the Shanghai International Art Bonded Service Center, and the Waigaoqiao International Wine Exhibition and Trading Center, which deal with artworks, wine and other commodities. At the Waigaoqiao International Intelligent Manufacturing Service Industrial Park, Gong listened to introduction of high-end equipment trade and technological exchanges, and encouraged the park enterprises to strengthen global resource allocation capabilities to achieve greater development.
The delegation then went to Gaoqiao Petrochemical Co Ltd, where they got an update on the firm’s business development and encouraged enterprises to increase investment in technology, strictly adhere to the red line of safety production and the bottom line of environmental protection, and develop a new competitive advantage.
